Duties

Position is located in the Facilities Management (FAC) section and performs annual plumbing and mechanical preventive maintenance works in all US government-owned and/or leased residences. Assists in checking for leaks, broken or cracked plumbing fixtures, integrity of fuel tanks, water reservoir, gas piping, water heater operations and other miscellaneous piped connections.

Education Requirements:

Completion of High School (or host nation equivalent) and completion of 8-10 months vocational or trade school program in plumbing or pipefitting, producing a journeyman level of skill is required.

Qualifications:

Experience:

Position requires a minimum of 1 year of journeyman level plumbing experience working with residential plumbing systems to include septic tanks, sewer lines, plumbing fixtures, valves, pumps and swimming pools.

Language: 

English: Rudimentary Knowledge is required. This may be tested.

French or Bambara: Limited Knowledge is required. This may be tested.

Job Knowledge:

Must possess full journeyman level knowledge of established practices and procedures involved in the plumbing field. A general knowledge of the other building and maintenance trades (i.e., carpentry, air-conditioning, electrical) is also required.

Skills And Abilities:

Must have a strong working knowledge of the plumbing field and the knowledge of where to locally obtain the parts and supplies necessary to complete preventive maintenance works. Must be able to use the tools of the trade, i.e. pipe wrenches, drills, drain openers, etc.; must be able to work in awkward positions, constricted spaces or elevated work platforms. Must have a general working knowledge and the ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance in the other maintenance trades. Must have basic mathematic skills to include calculations of volume, flow and pressure. A valid drivers’ license is required.
