The Société d’Exploitation des Mines d’Or de Sadiola (SEMOS SA) is looking for a General Manager of Operations to manage the newly created Business Unit Operations.

Requirements :
- Education: A recognized B.Sc. (Bac +5) or similar degree, preferably with a relevant technical background;
- Proven experience in the mining sector, preferably in open pit gold mining in West Africa, would be an asset;
- At least eight (8) to ten (10) years proven experience in a management position;
- Computer literate with intermediate or advanced skills (Excel, Word, Power Point);
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Very good communicator;
- Excellent knowledge of French and English.
Content of the Position :
- Delivering the results of the business plan as expected by the board, shareholders and stakeholders;
- Set business targets, major objectives and priorities for the operations department;
- Manage mine volumes and grades according to plans;
- Ensure plant availability, performance and recoveries are in line with commitments and business plans;
- Rigorously lead the implementation of systems, projects and strategies;
- Manage costs in line with budgets and market factors;
- Initiate value-added projects, ideas, methodologies and strategies;
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement throughout the function;
- Meet governance, site and board reporting requirements;
- Ensuring overall safety and safe working conditions for all employees in the operations;
- Develop long-term strategies by aligning vision, values, guiding principles, plans, audits and business results to best practice;
- Position operational functions within the business to maintain focus and align thinking with the core business;
- Be responsible for the delivery of mine plans, measurements and reports and all other technical aspects of the mining operation;
- Be responsible for the realization of the gold produced by the processing units as well as the laboratory results;
- Responsible for the availability, maintenance and optimal use of the fleet and equipment
- Manage all engineering aspects;
- Oversee the environmental aspects of the business, from environmental impact assessment to rehabilitation;
- Hold people accountable for results and performance;
- Enable production teams to achieve the required results;
- Implement programs to ensure the business plan is achieved for growth and profit;
- Implement improved management processes and methods to generate better return on investment and optimize workflow;
- Anticipate and forecast downtime, stoppages and unavailability of plant and equipment on production targets;
- Implement, maintain and manage an effective system of controls throughout the operations area, covering financial and non-financial controls;
