A- GENERAL INFORMATION
POST TITLE: LAN Manager (ICS6/GS6)
LOCATION: Bamako, MALI
DURA TION: One year initially with a possibility of extension
B- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ‘
Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Operation Manager, the LAN Manager will assist THE UNFPA CO in Mali with the management and maintenance of all ICT resources.
More specifically, the LAN Manager will perform the following duties:
1- Advice the Representative and Operations Manager on matters related to computer hardware and software procurement for both the CO and UNFPA funded projects
2- Liaise with UNFP A/HQ (MIS) on major computer hardware and software related Issues i
3- Manage the implementation of an IT disaster recovery plan following MIS Policies and Procedures, ensuring minimal disruption in system operations
4- Identify and implement information management practices to enhance the effectiveness of the CO,
5- Provide assistance for data access transfer and cop version
– File server security, usage and performance:
– Network security access and performance;
– Follow up with staff for corrective measures,
6- Manage the UNFP Mali Office LAN, Including but not limited to:
– Management of the NAT server
– Backup of LAN data
– Installation and maintenance of network antivirus and LAN security software
– Configuration email clients, linking directly to UNFPA HQ server .
– Management of the network connectively
– Management of file transfer/sharing and network printing
– Development of an amortization plan for ICT equipment
– Trouble-shooting of Internet connectivity glitches
– Management of the UNFPA-allocated internal IPs
– Liaise with the UNDP LAN manager for any shared network usage related problems
7- Assist the Representative and’Ol2erationsManagerin ensuring that all staff achieve the expected standard of ICT proficiency to efficiently .perform their work and develop an appropriate comprehensive IT training plan.
8- Assist staff with computer skills upgrading, more specifically in matters related but not limited to:
– Use of MS Office software applications, namely Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
– Use of the UNFPA ERP (ATLAS) and Intranet (www.myunfpa. org) applications
– Documents scanning and digital sending
C- QUALIFICATIUN
1- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
2- Certifications in Microsoft (MCP, MCSA, or MCSE) highly desirable.
Certifications in other IT related skills (e.g. Cisco CCNA) desirable
3- Good knowledge of Linux
4- Excellent knowledge and a minimum of 5 years cumulative experience in:
a. PC/LAN Operations
b. Internet routing
c. All Office-related software applications (especially MS Office)
d. Networking management skills(Linux Server, networking, router configuration and maintenance, installation, configuration and maintenance of network switches)
5 Fluency in French and working knowledge of English
6 Ability to write clearly and concisely
7 Sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members from different national and cultural backgrounds
