Job announcement: Press and Public Affairs Officer B3/EO (01/22 BMK)
The British Embassy in Bamako is recruiting a creative, organised and dynamic communications professional. The jobholder will be responsible for the British Embassy’s communication strategy, implementation and evaluation including social media channels, press networks and public diplomacy events. S/he will also advise the Ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission on media handling, conduct social media analysis to support political report and policy-making, and expand press and media networks.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Technical ability to record, photograph and create high quality digital content
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and French
- Highly organised, able to take initiative and to work accurately within deadlines and with limited supervision
- Strong networking and relationship management skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Good knowledge of social media
- Attention to detail and comfortable producing accurate digital content under pressure
- A willingness to learn new skills and champion your own professional development agenda
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
- Previous experience in public relations, marketing or media, including developing and implementing media communication plans/media campaigns and managing events.
- Project management experience or other relevant financial and contract administration experience.
- Previous experience working with the press
Salary: XOF 800,512 basic before Malian taxes plus XOF 68, 000 guaranteed allowances (non-taxable) per month
